Crime rate in South Africa - well you have to be realistic - it's high BUT if you keep your head on you and not go into the dodgy areas, travel with people, don't be gullible - you'll be fine.
I live in Durban and while I nod at cape town - I love my city and province (Kwa Zulu Natal) - we have lots to offer too.
