This was talked about in the Senate today.....Tamoxifen is not metabolized by all women. Due to the new gene research it has been discovered that a good portion of Breast cancer patients do not metabolize the above mentioned drug. In fact, it was stated, unless your doctor has done a blood test to see if you can metabolize it,....you might as well be eating M and M candies....virtually worthless.

They stated one in 100 doctors know to test for this.

Just a head's up and check into it if you know any breast cancer patients prescribed this drug.

Restrangled, tamoxifen metabolism is controlled by the CYP2D6 gene. There are already genetic tests available for the gene. In fact, portable, small, easy to use medical devices for testing for the gene that can be used at the point of care already exist:

Obama's new tax on medical devices, will, of course, slow the adoption of this technology, and place lives at risk.
