"At harvesttime, portions were to be left for the needy. It also ensured that they did not subsist on demoralizing handouts that required no effort on their part.In turn, gleaners could domomstrate their own thankfulness to Jehovah for this provision by contributing a tenth of their gleanings at his place of worship."

So does the GB of the WBTS contribute their share of cleaning their rooms, cleaning their toilets, washing their clothes to show their thankfulness for the generous giving spirit of the Brothers & Sisters. To ensure that they (GB) do not subsist on demoralizing handouts and require no effort on their part.

I'm sure they consider the editing and publishing work doing their fair share but the bible does stress doing hard physical labor to sustain yourself and not being dependant on anybody for anything if possible .The way they use the word glean in the congregation is absurd as well , whenever they read something they feel as if they are "gleaning" from the article. Everything they need to know about the article is already explained by the WTBTS so there's no "gleaning" involved . It all comes from jehovahs store house .

I can remember visiting Bethel and having had my host Bethelite call the behavior at the end of each meal where they took leftovers from the tables as "scavenging." I was rudely corrected down at lunch that it was "gleaning." It looked more like scavenging to me as some felt they could take it from the table I was at and still eating at.............
