So... spent all day trying to squeeze in the time to watch this debate. Unfortunately, I don't think either one of them walked away proving his case. Which is not surprising. If someone could prove or disprove God's existence, then we would never have these debates in the first place. I personally think that by reasoning, I can see that we have a creator. An atheist, I suppose, would say the same.
But the only atheists that I have ever heard from do not believe in religion... whichever religion that might be. And most of the atheists I have heard from attack the religious extremists... (much easier to prove their point) and often leave Christ out of the picture. (Or they deliberately misinterpret Christ's teachings). I'm sure there are atheists that argue better than this one did. But while he/she might cause me to examine my convictions, they could not 'convert' me.
Anyway, I think that David was a better speaker, and more prepared... and I liked that he was once an atheist. I think John sounded a bit *wobbly* in his opinions and that he did not stick to the topic at hand, "is there a God?. Instead, he seemed more inclined to attack the bible and Christianity. David had to bring him back on a few occasions.
Interesting, though, to see them debating... despite the fact that faith -cornerstone for belief in God - wasn't mentioned even once. So thanks, Leaving WT, for the downloads.
