    WT Dec 1880 (No. 6) p. 5 "False Christs"

"We have reason for believing that after 1881, there will be wonderful spiritual manifestations. The prince of the power of the air...[Devil and his angels]--The rulers of the darkness of this world [wicked spirits--] will now make a last great effort previous to their binding, at which time these powers will be subdued.

Those angels which kept not their first estate God hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. They were cast down to hell. ("Tartarus" lower atmosphere--our air.) For 6000 years these spiritual powers have been deceiving and misleading mankind.

These like the good angels, have also had power to appear as men, but they must always appear in the dark, for God had placed them under darkness."

Ahhh...the beauty of the ancient scrolls that were chosen by the Council of Nicea to be called "Gods word!" You can always find some way to label someone as an anti-Christ in any time period!

I admit that I do enjoy imagining the GB being controlled by some creepy council of evil creatures who masquerade as humans. Who knows, maybe the GB have never really died? They could simply take another form as time passes in the human realm.

Perhaps the creature who was "Rutherford" is now "TOMO"????

There can be few organisations which can pride themselves with an unbroken record of 100% failure rate in prediction of events in over one hundred and thirty five years.

I wonder if this accolade should be publicised in the Guinness Book of Records?

They're not wrong yet! It is still "after 1881" - maybe we'll see those "manifestations" tomorrow.

Silly Watchtower - they hit on the key to prophetic accuracy without realizing it. Predict that events will occur after a particular date, rather than on or before it.

If they had been predicting "Armageddon will occur after 1914, 1915, 1918, 1925, 1941, 1975, 2000....." they'd have an unbroken string of prophetic success!
