I just learned that some versions of the Bible contain the the comma johanneum, which is to say that they contain some text that was added later to John 5 as late as in the 1500's. The text being as follows:

5:7 "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
5:8 And there are three that bear witness in
earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one."

The text in bold is the comma johanneum (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comma_Johanneum

The idea of whoever added the text was that this would support belief in the trinity. All right. So, in this case, someone added something to the inerrant word of God, but was discovered, and therefore the change is not recognized in many Bibles. All right. I'm sure that there must be more than one witness who knows this very well. All right. Just as that change was made, and found, other changes could have been made and gone unnoticed. Does this suggest that we need to take the Bible with a grain of salt, as we don't really know how many of these clarifications were made to it? Does this give room to suspect that we don't really know much about the intentions of the original writers of the Bible?
