I never realized, the earth was NOT out of water in its creation, OR there had been some ancient destruction and "new earth" made.
Gen 1:2 - Now the earth proved to be formless and waste and there was DARKNESS upon the surface of the WATERY DEEP; and God's active force was moving to and fro over the surface of the WATERS.
Gen 1:6 - And God went on to say: "Let an expanse come to be in between the waters and let a dividing occur between the waters and the waters".
So it appears the earth had it's great flood prior to creation, unless the darkness and flood is from something prior. But in Ps check this out...........
Ps 104:5-9 He has founded the earth upon it's established places; It will not be made to totter to time indefinite or forever. With a WATERY DEEP JUST LIKE A GARMENT YOU COVERED IT. THE WATERS WERE STANDING ABOVE THE MOUNTAINS. At your rebuke they began to flee; At the sound of your thunder they were sent running in panic. Mountains proceeded TO ASCEND, Valley plains proceeded to DECEND. To the place that you have founded for them. A boundary you set, beyond which they shoud not pass, that they should not again cover the earth.
So, the great flood itself, if happened, it makes sense that they could be on mountains from prior to that. Whether Ps 104 is talking about before or after the flood story, it does make sense how shells are on the tops of mountains.
