One marriage got off to a shaky start after the groom was arrested in Lewiston for being drunk and disorderly and then arrested again in Clarkston later for domestic violence against his new bride. Nathan E. Lewis, 21, of Lewiston, was charged Tuesday in Asotin County Superior Court with one count of second-degree assault and interfering with a report of domestic violence following his arrest Monday. Lewis was married on Sunday and allegedly got drunk and was arrested for disorderly conduct in Lewiston, according to a report submitted by Asotin County Deputy Gary Snyder and a booking report from the Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office.

Snyder's report states after Lewis was bailed out of jail, his mother attempted to call law enforcement again when he was "out of control." He tried to stop her from calling, forcing her to use her life-alert button to activate a welfare check to a residence on the 900 block of 24th Avenue, Snyder's report states. Lewis left and the report states his bride called police to report Lewis assaulted her immediately after getting
out of jail. She reported being slapped and choked twice during an altercation. The bride stated Lewis was held down by his mother and her husband while she fled the house.

Lewis was arrested around 2 a.m. Monday at the home on 24th Avenue, and booked into the Asotin County Jail.
