i got thinking today about all the thing i have thrown away while in the cult, the books the music and the films etc, i felt a real loss because alot of the stuff was thrown on the filmist of reasons IE it had a fairy or a witch in it etc... it was 2nd hand and maybe demonised etc

made me want to go out on a mad shopping spree and buy it all back!

    LOL at HighDose.

Not to mention, for some of us, the opportunities for higher education.

    I'm still angry about that!

    Hi HD,

I never threw anything away, apart from my virginity, whilst on an apparent special ministry trip to Scotland (via Mallorca). I did miss out on college education, although managed to get that later in life.

Take comfort, highdose. At least the movies and music would have been on now-obsolete media formats. You'd have to buy them all again anyway.

I gave away my gold St Christopher that my Dad gave me for my 18th Birthday, I so regret that ,but at the time I thought I was doing the right thing

Highdose: I'm glad that being an ex-JW has moved you to stimulate the economy! :)

I had a lot of records, a number of them 12" singles, that I had to throw away. Many of these 12" single versions are absolutely unavailable--and the LP version is shorter. I got quite a few back as CD versions, but I did have to steal quite a few of those elusive 12" single versions. At least I got most of them back.

It's those opportunities to get an education or live your life that are really lost forever. You might be able to go to college, but it's not the same as if you were fresh out of high school. Plus, every year you delay college is a year you are not going to be able to get the higher income, a year of lower Social Security earnings, and ultimately a year less to prepare for your retirement.
