Has anyone started watching this? It's a two part documentary on the Christian church during the time of Peter and Paul.

What I found interesting was that the apostles felt disillusioned because they thought that the Kingdom of God would appear in their lifetime and it didn't. The narrator said that Paul felt they didn't have enough Gentiles yet as an explanation for the Kingdom delay.

Makes you think! Why are we still here in 2009?

Assuming that's true (and I'd love to know how they came by that information), if Peter and Paul were alive today, they'd probably roll their eyes and go back to fishing for fish.

Early churches had someone up all night, watching for jesus to return. Also, the story goes that the windup clock was invented because of the need to know when it was time to change shifts, watching for jesus, during the night.

I've not seen it. Thanks for the info, sounds interesting.

Personally, I think Paul was a wack job. First he persecutes Christians to death, then he gets "blinded by the light" and becomes the ubber apostle, surviving shipwrecks and beatings, and hunger and thirst... He denounces women and homosexuals, and gets pissy with Barnabas... Manic high anyone? :)
