I had never heard of this group before.
just had a look.
have you heard of Plymouth Brethren too.
It is amazing how many weird religions started in the mid 19th century, including the super-weird WTB$/Bible students/JW's.
I suppose it was the age when all sorts of things were in flux, science was advancing at an amazing pace, (thanks Darwin) politics was all over the place with absolute Monarchies trying to keep other forms of government from taking over, and commerce was exploding internationally.
The melting pot seems to have been ideal as a time to start your own religion, today it will be harder to start a new one, and even to modify an existing one to help it continue is not easy, as the W.T are about to find out.
