This has been discussed ad nauseum on this board (you know, that 'circle of the earth' thing...), but I found this updated artwork of the ancient Hebrew's view of the world wonderful.

You can get a huge hi-res version of it here

About the firmament: In some WT material (like the book Is the Bible really...) it is claimed that the flood waters were originally in the atmosphere (the water canopy theory). Now if you take up just one mile of water from the surface of the oceans, it would make the atmosphere hundred times heavier than it is now and increase the atmospheric pressure at ground level accordingly (also the temperature would need to rise for the vapour not to condense into liquid). Poor creatures: It must have been hard life under such pressure and even harder after the water came down and the pressure was released. Noah himself would have blown up like deep-sea fish taken on the surface...

Yeah, well, see, all that was pressure was necessary in order for the dinosaurs to turn into petroleum.

The Hebrews also thought the value of pi was 3. If they were "inspired" to write down in the "holy" Bible a wrong value for pi and described the earth as a circle, what does that tell you about their ability to accurately prophecy thousands of years into the future?

Oh yes... 1. Kings 7:23... Maybe the calculations based on the Hebrew scriptures by Russell as updated by Rutherford could still be corrected: 1920 x 3.14/3 = 2010 so it'll be this winter!
