Sorry if this has already been covered. How do y'all feel/think about this swine flu. Remember the last one in 1976? Lots of neurological damages and death from that one.

I got my flu shot and will get the oink one when it comes available to the general public. I'm not in the vulnerable group so can't get it yet.

I remember 1976--it was a fizzle, but people did die from the shot (if I remember right, only one died from the flu itself but 25 died from the shot).
This time, we did get the epidemic. However, the flu itself is usually fairly mild, about like regular flu (it is difficult to tell if you have the pig flu or the regular flu). Shots are late--if the swine flu has gone through your area before the shots come out, it is a complete waste to even get the shot. If you do get the flu now, it's probably swine flu (though there is no way to tell from symptoms, just that swine flu is going around and regular flu isn't now). In that case, getting the shot is going to do you no good. If you don't become immune from the flu itself, the shot will not do it, either.
