recently i was asked by a fellow christian brother:

"whats easier for man to accept (1) that you are saved by the love and grace of God or (2) that your salvation is dependant on works ?"

it may have been my JW upbringing that jolted me to answer quickly " oh that's easy that your saved by grace " ..........................

i paused ............................................. i looked to the floor ........... " its easier to accept that i have to work for my salvation "

    Hello Ex,

    I accept this

    Ephesians 2:8-10 (English Standard Version)

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

    These passages explain all

    2 Corinthians 3 Romans 4 Galatians 2:15-21

Some get confused over James 2 but bear in mind verse 10 from Ephesians 2 and you won't!

10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

    James 2:14-26 (English Standard Version)

    Faith Without Works Is Dead
14 What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, 16 ( and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled," without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? 17 So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

18 But someone will say, "You have faith and I have works." Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder! 20 Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by his works; 23 and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness"—and he was called a friend of God. 24 You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. 25 And in the same way was not also Rahab the prostitute justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way? 26 For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.

If anyone thinks that works alone will save them then read this verse carefully

    Isaiah 64:6 (New International Version)

6 All of us have become like one who is unclean,
    and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags;
we all shrivel up like a leaf,
and like the wind our sins sweep us away.

    All the best,

    Stephen

We must frist accept that the Grace given to us by God through Jesus is a gift and that it is NOT dependant by works or anythign we do, because we are all imperfect but God loves us as much as he can and as less as he can, no matter how much good or bad we do, for God knows Us completly.

When we realize that our salavtion is a gift and NOT base don what we do because we simple can never do enough to make up for all the crap we do, LOL ! we then realize that the Good works/deeds we do are done out of sheer love with NO IDEA of recompense or reward of ANY kind.

That is the true works of faith that God wants, unadulterd acts of love with no thought of recompense.
