A couple of weeks ago, I posted about how when my parents became dubs, I still watched for Santa Claus on Christmas Eve. I thought he just didn't come to our house anymore. An interesting situation came up this week that made me think of that again.
Our seven year old grandson has been raised as a JW, until this late this year, and his mother is no longer active either, but is still uncomfortable about the holidays, which I find understandable. I was too for a long time. He and my husband were looking at a miniature village in a Christmas department, at a big store this week, and grandpa said that one of the chimneys looked too small for Santa Claus. Our grandson replied that Santa can fit in any chimney. It occurred to me that he has thought the same thing I always had, that the other kids get a visit from Santa but he didn't.
They aren't doing Christmas this year, but I wonder about next year. I hope so. It would be nice for him to have a year or two of Santa visits, while he is still young enough to believe it.
