Cink proved to be too much with that massive putt on 18. Tom could not finish clean and now Cink marches up the last playoff hole at Turnberry to claim the Claret Jug with his putter.
Poised Watson must bow - his chance at history as the oldest man to ever win the Open Championship will falter like the mist over the rocky isles off the coast.

AK-JEFF- As a lover of golf myself I ached for Tom inside when he missed that putt for the championship on hole # 18. Still, no one expected a 59 almost 60 year old Watson to compete like he did ! He has nothing to be ashamed of. What he did in and of itself was incredible . What he might have accomplished would have been a miracle. Everything in perspective . Long live Tom Watson ! It was incredible and I hope he keeps playing in the Majors. I am happy for Cink and I am glad he won, yet, I really was pulling for Watson.
It looked like the old Tom Watson didn't it? Though I don't know if I believe in such things - I wonder if Bruce Edwards was looking down with a bit of advice about how to make those putts and iron shots.
