And this thread isn't about Farrah Fawcett, unless you want it to be.....

Helluva week at work, just checking in, and am not surprised that a former JW, the most famous one perhaps, has caught our attention. I was headingto a baseball game after work Thursday, and turned on the radio to Thriller, then Billie Jean, in a row. I knew something wasn't cool about that. This station normally plays Lady Gaga and T Pain....

When I heard the official news, I just chuckled. It caught me off guard a little, but can anyone be surprised?

Just a few memories: A DO of mine, George Illingworth, visited our congregation and shrared with us how it was in the 80's when MJ tried to attend the memorial: He couldn't. The elders at that particular KH were embarassed, but they couldn't stop the kids from freaking out.

The other one was me trying to get my mom to let me wear parachute pants and the black version of "the" jacket in elementary school. Needless to say, I looked like a vinyl and nylon mistake.

And so here I am, with all MY memories of MJ and what it meant to my life: listening to my dad talk about the Jackson 5, watching the 83 Motown reunion show and the moonwalk, the 87 Grammy where he did a simply stunning peformance of "Man in the Mirror". I also remember his lesser songs (Black or White?) and of course, his attempted kiss with Lisa Marie on TV...

And now he's dead................. At 50!

    Where has the time gone?

I use music to mark my life. He has always been there in my life. Today was the first full day that MJ won't be alive the same day as I am.

    What a tortured soul.

I think for me, I need to relax, not take myself so seriously, and enjoy the time, however long or short it is (here's hoping its long!)

I am not personally concerned that he was ever a JW. At least, for all his mistakes, he got out. Good for him. And there is no denying, he lived a lifetime in 50 years.

As Indiana Jones put it best "It isn't the years, it's the mileage honey."

    Michael Jackson, be at peace.....

    Very nice Opening post ATJ.

It is a time for reflection for me as well since back in the 80's when he was at his peak, I was going to the C.A.'s

and D.C.'s and thinking how different and distinct his music was.

So many times after these large gatherings of witnesses we would go out to restaurants or bar/grills and enjoy

ourselves while listenig to MJ's music over their speakers. Always sparked a conversation about him being

associated in some way with the witnesses.

I had some very fond memories with some sisters while listening to his music. (nothing sexual at the time just good, clean fun)

Many of the brothers and sisters in our area went together and seen the Victory tour. I know of at least 4 Elders at the

    time that went.

It shook me at first because I am the same age as Michael Jackson. And I was told recently that I have the beginnings of cataracts at a "young age." Didn't make me feel very young. I thought, "Damn, MJ had a cardiac arrest?? I am 50." But now it looks as if it may be drugs. Liza Minelli said that once the toxicology reports are in that the blankity blank blank is going to hit the fan. I'm sad for Michael, but relieved this might not be age related.

I'm not ready to kick the bucket yet. Just like Conrad Birdie, Kim and Hugo, I gotta lotta livin' ta do.
