John 1:23 " "I am a voice crying out in the wilderness, "Prepare the Lord's highway,"' as the prophet Isaiah said." Does the WT teach that John was making straight the path of Jehovah? Or Jesus? Anyone know?

John was making the way for Jehovah, who was represeted by his Son Jesus.

The watchtower teaches he was making the way for Jesus.

You could look at the scripture literally for back then if you believe in the christ of 2000 years ago, or you could interperate a lot more spiritually and figuratively and find out what it means for you today.

This is a trinity question, see the WT's response:

    *** rs p. 414 Trinity ***

    Application

Why does John 1:23 quote Isaiah 40:3 and apply it to what John the Baptizer did in preparing the way for Jesus Christ, when Isaiah 40:3 is clearly discussing preparing the way before Jehovah? Because Jesus represented his Father. He came in his Father’s name and had the assurance that his Father was always with him because he did the things pleasing to his Father.—John 5:43; 8:29.

    JWdaughter,

I wonder why no one asks the question, who or what is the highway that they were to make ready? Then perhaps the verse would become a bit more understandable.

Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Joseph Malik: "I wonder why no one asks the question, who or what is the highway that they were to make ready?"

    Highway, indeed!

    Matthew 7:13

"Go in through the narrow gate, because the gate is wide and the road is spacious that leads to destruction, and many people are entering by it.

    Now that describes a highway!

Today it has become a super corridor.

And WT has a toll booth on it, just like all the rest of the religious cults.

    Cameo-d,

I am sorry that you cannot find your way in to the city but there was more than one road to use as the verse showed. A narrow one that leads to a narrow gate and a wide one that leads to a wide gate. Such failure to understand texts and their purpose was described like this: 2Pe 3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
