My adult daughter was just diagnosed with it. She got a tick bit LAST YEAR but they ae saying she has only had it for 4 to 6 weeks. She hasn't has a tick bite this year. The one she got last year left the red circle. She has been sick for months and they ran all kinds of tests on her and nothing turned up. Finally she got on the computer and looked up what could cause her symtoms. It came up with lyme disease. She had to go to the Dr for a return visit and asked her Dr for the test. It is a special blood test they usually don't run and the only one that will show if it is indeed lyme disease. They just called a while ago and I gave them her cell number then she called me back.
She is on her way (Halfway there) on vacation to L.A. with a car full of teens and her hubby. We are relieved to finally find out what is causing her to be so tired and hurting but scared of the disease and treatment.
They don't know how to treat it so they want her to go to the center for disease control to be checked . I told her to find the one in L.A. and go there immediately.
I looked up to see if there were other cases in Missouri but the report I saw from 1975 or 1980 said there were none. Many have been misdiagnosed as juvenile arthritis or a virus or even fibromyalgia or chronic fatique syndrome. I think the blood test it relatively new and that's maybe why so many are misdiagnosed. Also Doctors don't even think of that kind of thing..sad to say.
Just wondering if anyone here had or knew someone that has had Lyme disease?
