How would a JW answer it? I guess he'd explain about the paradise Earth. He'd go back to that stuff about Adam and Eve living in paradise and that was the hope for man if he hadn't died and that that's still God's plan.

    Or something like that.

Living as a JW for 24 years, I never really had an appealing concept of heaven. I know I wasn't picturing some holodeck like in Star Trek where my every whim was induldged. I believed the 144,000 were going to go to heaven, but that sounded like a job, not a reward. It didn't sound appealing to me. Since JWs don't see the same heaven as other religions, they don't aspire to it.

I don't understand why that would have baffled the JW and made him run away.

This is a very common question - one that, right or wrong, JWs usually have a ready answer for. I'm surprised the JW seemingly "had no answer" and left.

Did the shearer read the JWs mind to ascertain the JW really had absolutely no answer? Sometimes people do have answers, but for various reasons don't articulate them (e.g., they may believe the questioner is being contentious or is out to trap them or - more likely among the modern-day breed of door knowckers - perhaps they've got a real bad headache and just want to go to the nearest Starbucks for a quick fix.
