What's weird about the whole thing is that in the same month of March, I started having these feelings that there's something going on with my old church I used to attend.
So I fired up my good old and trusty Firefox went to the church's homepage. I then find out the entire webpage has been changed. Alot of information has been removed, such as the "Pastors" and "Staff" links. The media page was gone and no mention of who the pastor is of this Church.
So I felt something in my gut that something happened to the Pastor. So I hit up the official Assembly of God headquarter's website and did a search for the Pastor's name in the listing and it was removed.
My old Pastor, Jerry McCamey, of Calvary Temple in Indianapolis, Indiana was removed from the church over a sexual harrassment claim that was emailed to the main headquarter's website. A female member, doesn't say if she was an employee or a congregational member. She started receiving text messages from McCamey offering sexual advances with her. I have no idea and lacked information as to how long this went on before she turned him in to the leaders of the AoG organization.
When the claim came to light, they dispatched one of their hired detectives to investigate the claim and found credible evidence of wrongdoing on the Pastor's part. Don't know how long after the discovery of the evidence before they finally decided to have him removed.
I'm sadden by his removal and even more sad over the fact that he has pastored the church for more than 28 years and he does something so stupid and immature that it took possibly just a few weeks to tear it all down. The church is one of the biggest AoG churches in the state of Indiana.
I'm mortified for his family. He has 3 kids and a beautiful wife. I'm also profoundly concerned with the entire member of the congregation.
He has built up a great church with members doing all sorts of stuff basically everyday at church, besides church services. They have a wonderful nursery for member's kids to drop off before work. They have a kid's program in the inner city of Indianapolis, reaching out to the kids who lives in proverty. Especially while trying to reach out to kids before they get recruited to become a gang member.
They have food drives several times a year. They have a prayer tower that functions 24/7 for those in need of prayer.
Awesome youth programs of all ages.
They invested into many foriegn missionaries from around the world.
Too many stuff to list.
I hope all these programs will survive McCamey, despite of his removal.
I'm just having a hard time understanding why would someone like McCamey to take such a huge risk of doing something as stupid as sending sexually laced text messages to a female member of the church. And on top of that, destroy all he had worked hard for in 28 years.
Even if he has a chance at getting back his Pastoralship, it'll be years before he can regain the trust from his fellow breathrens.
I'm more worried right now about his wife and kids. This has to tear them apart. I just hope their relationship can somehow be repaired. It's all up to God's hands now.
*sighs*
In fact, 3 Pastors from various denominations (including McCamey) have all been busted for some form of sexual misconduct in the exact same month.
Someone took out the broom and is cleaning house. Must be a heavenly sign of spring cleaning within the churches.
