I went to see a friend play piano in a christmas play yesterday and for the first time it struck me how similar the melody and cadence to some of the Christmas ballads are to Kingdom songs.
Anyone else noticed this?

I have. I've also noticed some of the songs at my church sound similar.

i noticed it too years ago when they came out with the Kingdom Melodies. Did you know that in the early years of the organization they celebrated christmas and sang carols in the bethel? befor the purple song book came out many of the songs in the old green song book had songs that were similar to church music. but i still think some of the songs sound christmasy

Some Christmas and other songs were in the public domain so re-written by the WTS for meetings. Please give me specifics if you can of which ones in the current WTS brown-colored book remind you most of the ones in your church's song book, and what the names of those are in the church song book. This could be interesting. Seems like there was also once an Awake or WT article on this...
