Interesting enough... I took a year of 'carpentry' in high school (my mom's idea - my dad did carpentry).
I tended to lean more towards electronics though... from waaaaay back when I could do experiments with any radio I could get my hands on.
But - that being said - I 'played' carpenter for about 2 weeks at a low-point in my life. I'll tell ya... that's hard work for little pay. (At least for me)
I had to get up early - and get to the job-site around 6:30 or 7am. I think that I was too 'fast' for that type of work. I remember slinging 4' x 8' sound absorbing board into place - so that the carpenter with the nail-gun could nail them in place. I kept pace with him - slinging whilst he nailed.
The fellas in charge there (witnesses) were a tad concerned for me... one offered me 'salt tablets'. I was like 'huh? I'm okay.'
Anyway... I pretty much walked from that job - couldn't get used to the hard work.
As far as walking through Home Depot - I love it! Of course... I'm not looking at all the things that one can get to put up walls or wire the home, etc. I'm looking things with a 'I can use this widget for this... and that one for that... ' that is... I use things - not what they were intended for.
