Anyone familiar with, or from, Benin?

I have been trying to learn just a little about the place, and have found it to be an interesting country. The reason for my interest is that a fellow at work is a native of Benin. I have found the research interesting and just wondered if anyone here might know much about Benin.

Under french rule, it was called Dahomey. What I know is that it is currently famous for its harbour Cotonou, where european junk cars are shipped to be sold in western Africa
