Try to have a JW explain, for example, the biblical basis of standing or not standing during the playing of the national anthem. I understand that there are certain criteria that allows for each. Better yet, watch a child's face as his JW parent tries to explain these differences. It's been a few years back for me and I can only imagine the confusion in my 4 boys.
Advice from leadership is to "arrive a little late" in order to avoid that scenario is, in my view, a copout. I call it "fear of men". "Sit in the principal's office", is another.
Interestingly, I can't find anything in print (WT Library CD) as regards what or what not to do during the playing of the national anthem.
