This is a reminder that this trojan is out there, and could be in your computer without your knowing it. I had it, and Norton didn't even detect it. Of course, I had another spyware program from PCTools that detected and removed it.

You can get more information at the link www.spywareremove.com/removeZlob.html . You can remove it by hand, but that is tedious and one transcription or typographical error will ruin your computer's data and mess up the whole machine (which is one reason why I will not attempt to type the instructions by hand). Or, you can download the program featured there, or one from PCTools or one of the other programs listed.

If you leave it there, it can download other problems. It can allow others to control your computer (and even put your computer on the Botnet, which you do not want). And, chances are that Norton will not pick it up--I only found out it was in my computer when I did a scan with PCTools, which gave me the e-mail that the trojan was out there in the first place.

I just found the source: If you are told to run "ActiveX", and you do not trust the source, do not allow it to run. If you do, you risk picking up the Zlob trojan. If you do, expect some fake warnings from Microsoft that tell you that your computer is infected with spyware, and responding will download more trouble. You can also get this in certain messenger sites like Yahoo and AOL, and some online games.

If you are going to use those services, you really need a good program to keep a watch for Zlob. Otherwise, you could find your computer used to steal your ID or on the Botnet.

But what does it do? What is Bot net? sounds like internet botulism.

The name "Zlob" alone causes me nightmares. I couldn't get rid of it, no matter how many hours I put into killing it. I did EVERYTHING and it wouldn't leave. The only way I ridded myself with it was re-formatting, re-installing, and using Linux more.

I would have to agree with you WT PC TOOLS has got me out of Trojan troubles a few times, one thing that I like about it is you can have it installed

on your system, but leave it turned off and just run your regular anti-virus program like Norton or others.

So I would highly recommend PC TOOLS , when your regular anti-virus software wont do the job

That is the benefit of having more than one program on your computer to kill those things. I would give PCTools a try. Only reformat as a last resort, or if you do not have anything on your computer that you don't mind spending hours trying to resurrect.
