Disfellowshipping and 1 Corinthians 5:9-11

  I have these couple of JW's quoting this verse at me in an attempt to justify disfellowshipping, pair of morons.

  In my letter I wrote YOU to quit mixing in company with fornicators, 10 not [meaning] entirely with the fornicators of this world or the greedy persons and extortioners or idolaters. Otherwise, YOU would actually have to get out of the world. 11 But now I am writing YOU to quit mixing in company with anyone called a brother that is a fornicator or a greedy person or an idolater or a reviler or a drunkard or an extortioner, not even eating with such a man.

  Why do they not see that these scriptures limit "sinful behaviour" to just a few behaviours, but not only that it doesn't say parents should shun their children.

  Can't believe how the WT misapplies some scripture and at the same time the individual JW just blindly follows.

  Just my rant for the day.

  notice the 'reinstatement' in 2nd Cor. It is called the 'rebuke given by the MAJORITY"..not all. Obviously up to the individual. No mentioned of then shunning that minority who did not disfellowship this man.

  Where in 2 Corinthians is that isaac? I have given my full explanation of how i see 1Cor 5 apply, but must admit i'm a little rusty.

  "But if anyone is not obedient to our word through this letter, keep this one marked, stop associating with him that he may become ashamed. And yet do not be considering him as an enemy, but continue admonishing him as a brother" (2 Thess. 3:14-15).

  "Stop associating" in 2 Thes is the identical Greek word as 'quit mixing in company' in 1 Co 5:9. Check it out online at www.blueletterbile.org...go to that verse and go to "c" for concordance. Why does the WT translate differently? So you do not connect the 2 verses and see that one who you 'stop associating with' is still admonished as a brother. Then they claim with no basis whatsoever that 1 Co is speaking of gross sins while Thes is speaking of minor sins for marking.

  I believe what they do is expand on the definitions of the 'few' behaviours. With the expanded definitions, all sorts of activity can be classified as sinful.

  Seems that greed and idolatry are the catchall words. Seeking attention and adoration for self (how they view apostates) can be considered idolatry. The idol being the person themself.

  Or somesuch nonsense.

  I agree, though, it is a huge stretch. And not at all loving or in the spirit of the scriptures.

  That's what gets me - and I don't know just where they lost it... I remember growing up believing and preaching that we followed Jesus' teachings in a more pure way because we did not get hung up on rules and interpretations of minutae like they did in the OT. Jesus fulfilled the old law summed up the spirit of the regulations in his Sermon on the Mount. It's the spirit of the law - without all the leagalisms - that we followed as christians.

  JW's are certainly led more legalisms than by christian love and forgiveness.

  "fornicator" - Judge Rutherford should have been disfellowshipped, but wasn't. Ditto for Leo Greenless, Ewart Chitty & Percy Champman, all being members of the Governing Body.

  "fornicator" - "Did you scream when he raped you? I mean did you scream while he knocked out half your teeth, broke your nose and jaw, put a knife to your throat and threatened to cut you from ear-to-ear if you screamed after he raped you?" "You didn't?" "We are going to DF you, you fornicating little slut and Jehovah will KILL you."

  "greedy person" - Rutherford and Knorr lived like Kings and always travelled first class. So do the Governing Body members and other WTS big shots. Knorr had TWO first class seats: one for himself and one for his briefcase! He liked to be "alone." None of these guys were disfellowshiped.

  "idolator" - ALL JWs should therefore be disfellowshiped. If they don't worship the WT leaders, then the word "idolatry" has no meaning.

  "reviler" - Judge Rutherford and Fred Franz were the worse, and they weren't disfellowshiped.

  "drunkard' - well, that includes Rutherford, most Bethelites and 80% of all elders and ministerial servants, yet how many of those are disfellowshiped?

  "extortioner" - all Governing Body members: "if you don't do what we say, Jehovah will KILL you." If that isn't extortion, then the word extortion has no meaning.

  Get caught taking some puffs on a cigaratte? "DF! DF! DF! HANG HIM!"

  Get caught letting a homeless lady friend spend a night at your place in a strictly platonic situation so she doesn't have to sleep in the rain? "DF! DF! DF! HANG HIM!"

  Put tinsel on a Christmas Tree? "DF! DF! DF! HANG HIM!"

  Offhandedly say, "I don't agree with the latest Watchtower magazine?" "DF! DF! DF! HANG HIM! But disembowel him first!

  That's why I am so fond of the Watchtower Relgion(tm). It adheres strictly to the Bible, without "adding anything" and treats all "brothers" equally just like the Bible said they should do.

  HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
