Odd......now that you bring it up.....in my family (jw & non-jw) this doesn't happen until you are married.... sorta but they still question, reprove and insinuate their opinions and wills.
It might be a bit different for the boys but I hail from a family with a majority of girls. I really never paid attention to how my parents treat my younger brothers beyond letting them get away with 'murder' (read-later curfew and being allowed to attend college out-of-state).
My husband (non-jw) is already 'brainwashing' our kids to live near (if not right next door) to us.
Parenting apparently stops when you lay them in the ground.
