Ditto the Rand comment...
But I don't think they can hardly police that kind of thing. So many companies have contracts providing supplies to the military. If Proctor and Gamble had a military contract selling soap to them, should a JW boycott P&G? There's no way to enforce that. If you lived in an army town, like Fayetteville, NC where almost all businesses relied on selling services or supplies to Fort Bragg, should JWs move out of town? Again, that's too much to expect.
Certain other purchases of items related to the military could cause problems. I remember being counseled for buying an army jacket at the army surplus store. It was an old school army jacket, like they wore in WWII or Korea. I used it to wear as a work jacket when I worked construction. After awhile it became a favorite jacket. I wore it to a quick build one time and was told to take it off or leave. That's when I was counseled for wearing something that promoted warfare. Forget that it was well-insulated, water resistant and lightweight making it perfect for outdoor construction. But because it was army green and recognizable as being worn by soldiers, it was verboten.
What like AK-47 assault Rifles and hand Grenades...........hell yes, we need to be ready for Jehovah's battle just in-case "Jehovah's will" is to let us suffer....we can still kick some ass the old fashioned American way!
Dang, no Tang??
Seriously, a lot of military applications are now in force in everday life. Ties for one! Velcro, Tang, those foam mattress things. . . other kinds of food preservation-canning was begun on an initiative(bribe) by Napoleon to find a way to preserve feed-or at least Napoleon offered up a huge reward for someone to figure it out. Companies of all kinds have military contracts, manufacturers of clothes, food, vehicles, camp equipment, everything.
Do they do business with companies that do business with military? Ink, paper producers? The main producer of newsprint in the country has pretty much of a monopoly, so they are probably providing paper to the WT. BTW, paper prices have increased hugely lately. Wonder what that is doing to the WT $$?
