Was reading jw facts thread posted in June and there was speculation of blood eventually being viewed as transplant. Page Eight of 'How can blood save your life?' Para.5 " Yet a transfusion is a tissue transplant" Then turn to top of page28. It reads " The Witnesses do not feel that the bible comments directly on organ transplants; hence, decisions regarding cornea, kidney, or other tissue transplants must be made by the individual Witness". Have I stumbled on something here? ps Love your site jwfacts.

The problem here is that the WTS again is speaking out of both sides of their mouths. It is important to read between the lines. Watch out for catch words and phrases

Page Eight of 'How can blood save your life?' Para.5 "Yet a transfusion is a tissue transplant"

Really means: "Yet a transfusion medically is a tissue transplant"

Then turn to top of page28. It reads "The Witnesses do not feel that the bible comments directly on organ transplants; hence, decisions regarding cornea, kidney, or other tissue transplants must be made by the individual Witness".

Really means: The Witnesses can't find anything in the Bible that comments directly on organ transplants. Therefore decisions regarding various transplants must be made by the individual.

There is a lot unseen here.

    • although doctors consider blood transfusion as simply another tissue transplants JWs need to consider whether blood is an acceptable on a spiritual level
    • after examining the issue from a spiritual standpoint a JW may believe it is ok to have a blood transfusion. (Enter a bunch of scriptures where the Bible does talk about the use of blood
    • any JW that ignores the "Christian" trained conscience as set down my the WTS/GB shows themselves as acting outside of the rules sorry principles and could expect sanctions against them. The accepting of blood would demonstrate a turning away from Jehovah. Their action disassociates themselves from God's organization

Don't be in such a hurry for them to drop this one

Lady Lee is right this is typical of the double speak, covering their arses.

They indicate that blood is viewed as an organ in the medical community, but that JW don't view it as such. If they did then blood transfusions would be ok. They literally contradict themselves, but again this is typical JW literature and their very good at double speak which used to leave us saying "WHAT'?
