    Closing down of Christian sites

For those of you who knew the iFaith forum this may come as a bit of a shock.

It was hit by the gay crowd a while back which resulted in a bit of upheaval but some of us plodded on so as to keep it going.

Myself and an old guy by the name of Quasar persevered and although we did not get many posters we did have a situation where most of the topics went hot because of all the lurkers. The place was a storehouse of information and definitions.

Then the whole site just went down a couple of months ago and was nowhere to be found.

I clicked on the link today and had a rude shock. It brought up an iFaith site all new and improved and very very professional. So professional that it is obviously staged and laid out and run as a main line denomination like the Anglican . By going through the links I found a forum that is so well stage managed its incredible. Very pro American in the replies and questions. Nothing of the good stuff that was there is left. Like it never was!

I bring this up as a foretaste of what is obviously going on and coming down the pipeline. This is grim news, very grim. Those of you who knew the place can click on the link and have a look at what has replaced it. It may be a good idea to swap email addresses with those you want to keep in touch with as this could well happen to other sites as well and probably will. ___________________ The above was posted on another website.

In an earlier post, I mentioned that I had been watching some of the christian sites and that people were beginning to talk about some changes in leadership and doctrines. New preachers coming in and new teachings...."jesus on the silk road" kind of stuff. When the site members began to talk about the scripture "get out of her my people" in reference to the church, they got kicked off the websites. Then, some began to write good-byes and leave. Now this. Just like what happened here at JWD. What's going on? Do you think it's something more than meets the eye?????

Seems the winds are starting to blow, people.

There are always going to be people that are against freedom of religion. Some will try to coerce all the posters into a certain religion. Others will go all out and bash other posters for certain religious beliefs. This time, it was pro-gay groups (it seems there were tons of gay threads on this board, and Simon had to put a message that such threads, if not Washtowel related, would be removed). Another time, it could be pro-Christian or pro-Islam. Posters that bash God (without bashing other posters) would have their threads obscured with hate replies intended to get the thread locked or removed, so others would not see the alternate view of God.

This is going on all the time. And, besides this, there are always people that will spam a board. They will put links to porn, cigarettes, firearms, insurance products, and software of questionable value (that usually includes malware) on a religious forum. The discussions will lead readers away from the main purpose of the forum. If such accounts are not quickly banned, the whole board will become unusable. Simon has done a lot of work in removing such crap from this board, but it was too much to always have posters coming on to bash everyone else, force one viewpoint, and/or post porn and other unrelated crap on this.

I thought this was very curious.

Fundies and gays are both intolerant of each other. With the upcoming same-sex marriage legislation in California, it is going to get really ugly. I don't think that was, per se, the problem at JWD.
