Gilead graduates told where they are assigned to, no more "surprise" ticket

I just heard off the grapevine that missionaries will be told which country they will be going to serve instead of being given an envelope for them to open.
Is this old news or something recent?

I'm pretty sure it's been that way for a while now.
Although I do believe they are told where they are going at the Gilead graduation ceremony, so instead of being surprised and/or disappointed in private, they have 3500 or so of their closest friends scrutinizing their facial expressions upon learning the news.
There's a few recent Gilead grads posting on here who can probably fill in more details.
