No, she’s not leaving the BORG anytime soon, but she attended my grandmother’s 83rd surprise b-day party yesterday. This was probably the last time we will come together as a family. There were relatives she neither one of us has seen for decades.

Of course she didn’t sing happy b-day, but she did bring food and took photos during the candle blowing, gift opening and so on. It may not seem like a big deal, but it meant so much to the family that she came

    It IS a big deal

And you have good reason to be very proud of your JW mother!!!

Her heart is at the right place. Looks like it was a nice birthday party:-)

    Alexia,

That is great! It can get you thinking when your loved ones get up in age and we don't know how much time we have left with them. Glad to hear the family could all get together.

Never could understand the birthday thing?

OMG, that is a BIG deal. I was overjoyed when I learned that a longtime jw relative donated an item for the Chinese auction at our latest family reunion. None of the jws in the family showed up, but at least one wanted to contribute to the effort.

YAY Mom! She sounds like a level-headed woman. My family avoids birthday parties like the plague!
