Tonight I talked with a woman that was Df'd from my old hall several yrs ago . She still thinks it's the truth and wants to go back someday . She does see the logic that it is run by imperfect men making some real bad decisions ,but to her it is still the truth . I felt like I was going around in a circle trying to reason with her .

I feel sorry for them too!

Several friends of mine got DF'd and went back so they could fade. It turns out they believe again - just bullsh(t.

oh my goodness I just finished posting on this topic to an e-list

After I left in 85 I continued to believe for another 10 years. I seriously considered going back after 5 years but ran into a very nasty elder who did his best to sabotage me. I was pissed at the time but now I am glad he was so mean.

But once the blinders were off they will never go back on

Well I am working on my sister now........and it appears to be working!

I focused on why she was DFd, things that have happened since and how the WTS expects her to 'take responsibility' but doesn't practice what they preach......It got her good and mad, opening up on other 'jw topical doubts and issues'. I used this opening to spread some seeds of truth about the 'troof'. .......setting it all up to introduce to this site.

Oh boy... do I ever feel sorry for Df'd people that still believe in it all!

Talk about the worst of both worlds.

It's a terrible dillusional condition that can only lead to bad results.

Hopefully the internet and the free flow of information will continue to grow and flourish, making it easier for everyone, including Df'd people to get to know the real truth about the WT religion.

My sister was away from the JWs for 25 years. She still believed but she knew she could never be a good witness so she turned to drugs to numb the pain of not being good enough. After several failed attempts at suicide she finally succeeded a couple of years ago.

    Definitely a bad result.

I have to wonder how many other people forced out of the JWs wind up taking their own lives

This woman told me she is an alcoholic and while she was a witness she got support she needed to be sober . Now she feels all that has been taken out from under her (and she is drinking much more now ) and she feels it was unfair because she felt she was repentant and did not want to be df'd .

She has tried other religions and feels what she studied as a witness was bible truth and so she can't turn to another religion for comfort . It is the same old excuse about the witnesses "imperfect men , but God's organization " so no matter how they may screw up you should still be faithful to Jehovah . I wanted to pull my hair out nothing I said sank in with her other than I am clearly an apostate now and she probably won't continue talking to me .
