Israelites.take the land of milk and honey from surrounding Nations.
Sodom/Gomorrah...kills Homosexuals. These are but a few examples of God's Genocides.

The effects are the same -- a lot of innocent people die.
The main difference is that ruthless men eventually die, as do their regimes. The idea of a ruthless God keeps going generation after generation, because new generations are continually sold on the idea of a fearful God who somehow is on their side and against their enemies.
