Our culture seems to idolize marriage. But with nearly 60% of women and 60% of men cheating. Is it time to re-evaluate the structures of marriage?

Should we really expect our mate's to stay faithful?

Are there benefits to an open or "poly" marriages?

The benefit is that, if there is going to be an affair, it is out in the open. There is no hiding it, and no lying about it.

However, if society wasn't so damn stagnating (just look at most of the stagnation rut jobs, stagnation rut schools, and stagnation rut religions), the incidence of adultery (and drug use, and just about every kick crime) would plummet. Most adultery happens when a spouse is bored with their mate, and checks out someone else (not necessarily because the person simply wants multiple partners, though that can happen in cases of premarital sex). The real damage happens when they keep it hidden, and they don't get to enjoy it to the full. And, when they get found out about, the sxxx hits the fan.

Having limited fertility in both cases women get the shaft ultimately.

Additionally there is the emotions of jealously, territorial and the need to protect one's self interest.

Both my husband and myself have adulterous parents, we know all to well the negative effects to the stability of homelife.
