Fox-news reports that Texas is investigating where the "Fundamentalist Mormon" sect got millions of dollars to build it's headquarters..they paid $700,000 in 2003 for a scrub filled peice of desert which today is worth 20.5 Million! 200 Sect members dug out huge pieces of Granite to errect temples....they layed down new black farming soil to grow grow crops. And toiled for years sometimes working around the clock to build the compound and get funds for the project. Hmmmm who does that sound like!

Well, a lot of people have speculated that they rely heavily on members outside the elite cult farm for money. And, IMHO, Mormonism was probably one of the original prototypes of the uniquely American "success evangalism" churches, like for example Joel Osteen, or the Crystal Cathedral guy in California. They really believe that their salvation is linked in with "doing well" and "giving back" to the church. Give more - you receive more.
On a darker note - I have heard other speculation that they may be dipping heavily into public funds through child aid, food stamps, etc...and that many Mormons are absolute whizzes at confidence schemes, pyramid sales plans, internet scams, etc. For god's sake - I heard of one that was selling the pee of young mormons to athletes so they could pass their drug tests! They proudly proclaimed it was Mormon juice so the buyer would be sure the source was clean from drugs! At least they haven't been caught growing weed or poppies on that fertile black soil they trucked in - yet.
I said Mormon here without qualification of the "real" and the "splinter" because I think they all originated from the same evil teacher and are really cut from the same cloth. I think the main church only quit the pluralism and control of the state of Utah out of fear of the U.S. Government, not out of some enlightenment. Much like the witnesses quit selling the magazines for a stated amount.
Wouldn't it be ironic if there was someday a change in the JW to quit the blood rule, but splinter groups formed to still practice the old rules?

The men go outside and work in construction, then bring their paychecks to their church. In a communist fashion, their church provides for housing and food.
