Catch up questions on the latest new rules and regulations -

  Well, if I count right, this is my 1500 post, and it is coming in on my first day back after about 2 years working too hard to afford more toy cars - so, I was fascinated to read through the threads and see some of the new stuff the Borg has thought up. Here are my catch-up questions on this news, and sorry if I get some of the details wrong:

  1) - On the Generation thing. OK, so first they said in about 1995 that "the generation" is still that of 1914, but that it does not mean the time is tied to a human lifespan, but is rather a sort of "age". Whatever that means. Now, it looks like there was a recent revision - the "generation" means as long as there are "annointed" still on earth, and that the "annointed class" are still being chosen and were not "sealed off" in the 1930s?

  2) - Associated with the above, is the teaching still that there never was a "great crowd" until J.F.R. thought it up in 1930 or so, and that ALL early christians were therefore of the annointed?

  3) - So; Watchtower Magazine is now split between a secret copy for the Witnesses, and another one for the outside world? Was there a reason given for this? Does the new secret Tower replace what used to be Kingdom Ministry back in my day? Could somebody tell me what it looks like, and does it really have any "secret" contents? Did any of the dubs realize that this will cut their monthly magazine placements by half - if they had a list of people that would take the magazines on their service route? (not to mention making the Awake monthly as well) -

  4) - Here I see that the tuesday night book study is to be no more. Questions - why in the world did they keep the stupid announcement secret until the great day was to come, but send out the news to be leaked well in advance? Why not just write it in the members-only Watchtower and let everybody read it when they got their copy? Also - what is up with telling people that it is for saving gas and relieving their burden, bet then say - Oh, but keep on doing the burden right through the summer gas crises and start the new rules next JANUARY??? Kind of makes the secret announcement a little less dramatic, huh?

  5) - And finally - did this stuff really all go down with the zombies just shuffling along as usual and not even murmuring about it? Actually, I can sort of visualize that - at the meetings at least - but I bet there was some gossip among the ranks in private...

  Any comments or corrections on the above?

  The generation thing: now they say that the "generation" IS the anointed ones. So "this generation" means the anointed still on earth.

  With regards to new people becoming anointed: they have now said that the number is not sealed so younger JWs can now claim to be anointed.

  Result: armageddon is further off because the anointed will grow in number and will not pass away too soon.

  Why wait until January 2009 for the book study arrangement? The Washtowel Slaveholdery likes to put people out in field circus more, and that's what they intend to do with the extra time. However, telling people that at the time of the big announcement would have caused people to doubt the gas savings as the prime reason.

  However, announcing the arrangement in late April and then pushing field circus sometime in fall would allow people to forget to link the two. If they wait until the September or October Kingdumb Misery to tell people to go out in field circus, they will likely have forgotten about the gas savings and the family time. Give them time to be excited, and then take up the time with field circus.

  And, come the Grand Boasting Session of 2009, I bet you will be hearing numerous experiences about how Jehovah has blessed the new field circus time. More people at home, the numerous new studies, a few on their way to baptism or the one that is standing in the baptismal candidate section, etc.
