  After many unconfirmed stories regarding sexual abuse victims in Brazil, a recent case was effectively lead to Court.

  Brief: Pamella Carneiro Silva was abused in congregation by predator Edenilson Pagno, ex-elder. Edenilson was DF'd. Few time after, Edenilson was re-instated. Another victims may stop the process in this point, because "the Jehovah's justice took place". But Pamella did what no one Brazilian JW victim ever did until now: She went to police and sued Edenilson.

  We hope that Pamella's Case will be the FIRST of many others that never going to police.

  Please keep us informed of the progress of this trial. Especially interesting will be the tactics used by the defense in this case. I'm sure there are differences in the legal systems of Brazil and the USA.

  I just went through the Portuguese page (because it was mentioned from a French xJW forum).

  The information seems to be particularly scarce so far (it is only deduced from the legal texts mentioned in the charge that the victim was under 14).

  One reason might be that the victim's attorney is a JW,

  Is that the new WT strategy to comply with the requirement of an official lawsuit while sparing the "religion"?

  hi friends,

  my regular work takes a lot of time and just now I found a second to inform you that ex-JW and victim Pamella Carneiro da Silva WON the trial!

  JW molester, Ednilson Pagno, was sentenced to 11 years and 8 months in prison . But he appealed the veredict requesting habeas corpus - a legal device established by law for not performing prison.

  Highlights on judge sentence:

  - crimes occurred many times

  - the molester has NOT conditions to live socially with others and he is a peril to comunity

  - the sentence (11y 8m) is high, due to crime peculiarities

  And a curious thing: molester Edenilson was DF'd and re-instated as JW.
