The Great Screaming debate....

I remember reading somewhere that if a woman didn't scream during a rape or try to stop it physically they would be disfellowshipped. I have a couple quick questions about it, first off when was this policy stated and in what magazine. Second, did this change? If it did change when did it change and how? Thanks everyone for any help you can give me.

The Watchtower Society has flip flopped on this issue many times over the years.

I recall being told that by a special pioneer when I was 12,

which would be 39 years ago.

edited to add: right in line with the 1964 article

Thanks for all the info, it seems to me they're just more forgiving for circumstances now as opposed to before. The scream rule is still in effect.

When I was a kid in the 60's and 70's, I remember being terrified hearing talks about this at assemblies and on Sundays. Nothing like terrifying all the sisters and scaring little children about the terror of rape along with making us feel guilty about unforgiveable sin and disfellowshipping.

What if you're just a "screamer"? Quiet girls get punished?
