A close friend recently told me that the door to door ministry was a "voluntary work" that they only did out of love and concern for the people.

I said that I thought was a required part of being a Jehovah's Witness and if they did not witness to people the old rule was that they were blood guilty and gawd would kill them at "A"

I wouldn't mind a quote or two as to the facts. I have been out for over 25 years but I still think that is the opinion. I am not too lazy to find quotes..just too dumb..

    Amazing really!

That's exactly how it was - like if you have any love for god you will go converting others like in the days of Noah who had to relieve himself of the bloodguilt of gods wrath ( not that it was gods fault they perished you understand - or that god coulda just appeared to everyone and said it up front and on the level - oh no - you gotta listen to the guy with the woodyard!!)

So yeah they are IMO making claims which relieve themselves of any legal accusations that they insist followers preach!

So I suspect the reality is that all JWs know it is expected even though the official line is 'volunteering your love for gods will' - now there's a convention theme for ya!!

I was told when I was studying that it was a command. We had to do it and if we didn't, the stones would.

I hate the fact that they often have two sets of rules..one for public consumption and one for internal consumption.

This has been highlighted recently by splitting the WT into two versions. The public one has the whitewashed feel good truth and the members version the reality.

You only have to look at the statements on the WT web page regarding who will survive Armageddon (lies and misdirection) to see this in practice.

Its devious coercion for marketing purposes, power and corruption comes in different colors,

Unfortunately people still don't think religion has nothing to do about money and power.

Even when I was studying, I was looking for a way out of having to go out in field circus. They told me simply:

No field circus, no everlasting life.

    it-1p.347Bloodguilt***

The Christian Greek Scriptures outline three distinct ways in which a Christian could become bloodguilty before God: (1) by bloodshed, murder—this would include those actively or tacitly supporting the activities of a bloodguilty organization (such as Babylon the Great [Re 17:6; 18:2, 4] or other organizations that have shed much innocent blood [Re 16:5, 6; compare Isa 26:20, 21]); (2) by eating or drinking blood in any way (Ac 15:20); and (3) by failing to preach the good news of the Kingdom, thereby withholding the lifesaving information it contains.—Ac 18:6; 20:26, 27; compare Eze 33:6-8.

    There ya go!

Thanks for the quote SirNose. They wouldn't want to be blood guilty would they.

It certainly annoys me when I see witnesses almost on their deathbed still trying to drag themselves out for one last time.

I think it has a lot more to do with fear of their loving god than regard for the salvation of their neighbours.
