Apart form the widespread suspicion & backbiting that goes on in the 'spiritual paradise', I have also known of many, many cases where an individual or cliques have became terribly jealous of another JW/JW couple etc, for whatever reason. Examples are bountiful.
Examples of jealousy in the congregations

Yes! Humanity is as hot and fiery in KHs as it is anywhere in society! It's just that in JW land they conceal and subtleify emotions to a new level, especially with the empowered nudge wink sign language to combat the weaving mill style communications long termers develop to combat the hush hush environment! The whole WT ethos empowers cliques into controlling whisper groups wielding influence where it ought not to!
I think this is what prevails and subdues some sincere newcomers who go in wide eyed and cross legged and come out dazed and dumbfounded.

What I have been affected by was not jealousy. It was envy, in its worst form. Envy is where the person affected notices that someone has something good, and wants to destroy it. And, I have seen one hounder's family that consisted of a fat, out-of-shape hounder, a fat, ugly wife, and fat children (and it's because none of them got any real sustained play time or exercise). They had no entertainment whatsoever (no TV, no radio, no computer, no electronic devices, no outings, no nothing). Field circus dominated them.
The worst part was that they sought to destroy the values that others happened to possess. Toys were a waste of money that should have gone into pet projects (like the hounder-hounder, the Worldwide Pedophile Defense Fund, new Kingdumb Hells that we did not need, etc). They ruined one family that I found more attractive (and wrenched me away from them, despite that my activities there were more to upbuild and entertain the children, one of which had a high need for exploration and was very intelligent). This humanoid also used the hounder-hounder to get all sisters to reject me at the a$$emblies, all done behind my back. Hey, if he has a puke-ugly wife, why should I be able to do better?
To me, that is a lot worse than jealousy. If he were merely jealous, he would be working to obtain the things he saw others enjoying. His wife is ugly--and so are the children--maybe it's time for less field circus and more physical play time. (They would lose weight, get into shape, and probably be more attractive and healthier). He sees people enjoying their music; maybe it's time to do a few less Worldwide Pedophile Defense Fund donations, save the money, and buy a damn stereo instead of telling people not to get stereos. He has zero fun. Instead of dragging everyone else there, maybe it's time to put a strict limit on theocraptic wastes and start doing the things he sees everyone else enjoying (and it would make him lose some weight and get into shape).
That is the sort of thing that goes on throughout the fold. They are put through so much busywork that does nothing, stripped of money, and denied fun by a few humanoids at the top that they become envious of anyone that disobeys the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger. The ones that become jealous of those in the world often go back into the world, and turn apostate (and become free of the mess that the Watchtower Society is putting out). I hope more of them lose their envy and become more jealous of those in the world, to the point where they seek to become like them.

Sad to say I agree that there was jealousy in the congregations. Some people were jealous of others who they perceived had it better than them. Sometimes this was because the others had more money, possessions or a more affluent lifestyle. Sometimes people were jealous of others who seemed to have a large extended family or who were always invited everywhere. In my case, there were a few who were jealous because I was single and worked and they thought I had 'no problems'.
When people are jealous of somebody they are not going to help that person if that person needs it.
People are strange creatures. Sometimes they are jealous of things that are intangible. I always suspected they were jealous or resentful even if you had healthy self-esteem. For some reason I sensed that certain people begrudged me that very basic thing. Thankfully, I was not raised in the religion and developed my own self esteem over the years. I am sorry these people let the religion take theirs away.

In a religion where appearances matter most & you're constantly made to feel that you aren't good enough ("only some of Jehovah's Witnesses will make it into the New World" or "(if you publish) You should pioneer" or "(if you're an elder) your children should be pioneering/not attending college" or etc)...........it's no wonder there is so much jealousy in the Borg.
