I read an interesting point the other day, but can not for the life of me remember where!.

But the idea and statement is why creationist or anyone uses uses science to 'prove bible' events. the reasoning went like this...

By taking science evidence and trying to apply to to a biblical events you are in effecting stating that you value the opinion of science rather than the bible.

If the Bible is the word of God, then why every try and marry up what science says about biblical events.

If you need to science to justify what went on in the bible Thur archaeology proof or scientific eveidnence, the you do not accept the bible as the ultimate authority, as you are using 'mans' authority to try and validate word gods.

I thought i was an interesting point.

Here are a few examples of the crap science in the Bible (at least as the Tower portrays it):

    (1) The Flood. Having all those animals on the ark poses serious logistic problems like storage of food and health issues. Water cannot cause rock to be pushed up by its sheer weight, since water cannot displace enough water weight per volume to force down the rock mass.

    (2) How would one stop the earth from rotating for a day? Imagine trying to stop a car moving 1,000 MPH. If you had a cup of coffee and stopped that suddenly, it would slop everywhere. Imagine the tsunamis and earthquakes that would have resulted (and the Bible did not mention any such events). You also could not have simply moved the sun without disrupting all the other planets. Having the sun stay up all day and night would have been impossible.

    (3) The circle of the Earth as proof that the Earth is a sphere. A circle means a flat disc. A compact disc or a record is a circle. And both are flat.

    (4) You can fit all the proof of evolution on a ping pong table. Maybe true, but you could fit all the proof of creation on a ping pong table and still be able to play ping pong on that table.

    (5) Having the Red Sea parted solely with wind power. True, that could have been accomplished. But it would be miserably difficult for anyone to walk against. The wind would have to be concentrated in one area about 50 feet across to have this effect. It would also have to be at least 100 MPH and steady. It is very difficult to walk into a wind that strong, and there is a good chance that people would have been blown back by the wind while trying to cross the sea. The wind was from the east, and they were traveling eastbound.

    It's all a sales ploy.

Trying to give the Bible a shred of scientific "street cred".

But you're right. The Bible doesn't need to kow-tow (sp?) to these proud, know-it-all scientific types AT ALL if it's the Word of God. God is the great trickster and con-man who has miraculously skewed a universe full of evidence to throw the scientists off track while the FAITHFUL keep on believing the Bible as they know they should.

    Possible theist philosophy:

Science is good when it proves something from the Bible.

Science is bad when it disproves something from the Bible.
