I recently read this and i always felt that your aptitude would naturally lead you to your life's work..........please feel free to share your views, comments, experience...........When we have found our path, we naturally want to start to walk down it. The reverse isn't true despite what we may believe. It is quite futile to learn how to walk when you don't know which path to walk upon. This may seem a little obtuse to grasp and yet it is true. It is desire that creates aptitude and not the reverse.
Opinions, comments appreciated.............

I think the hardest part about this concept for me has been figuring out who I am as an individual so that the "path" could even be entertained. I agree with some of it, but also am aware that under some circumstances, like having been manipulated by mind control, it is difficult to tell the difference between the path you should follow and a distraction.

Interesting.
I think the quote has it more right, my reasoning being that if I don't have a desire to do or learn something, then I'll never discover or develop the aptitude. That's not to say that the opposite view isn't correct though.
Perhaps one begins stronger than the other - if you have aptitude but no desire, you'll just never do it, you may be happy doing something else but never realise how much happier you could have been. If you have desire without the aptitude, you could be happy, but not do the job as well as someone else. In either scenario, you could end up very unhappy and frustrated.
Maybe desire and aptitude could be viewed as complementary to each other - one developing the other until both are near-perfectly balanced - then you're on exactly the right path rather than a parallel one!
