Almost embarrassing to say, I just got the "Naked brothers band" album for my daughter. It's a mockumentary about a kids band. But the main kid really writes the songs, and I have to say, they're pretty damn good! Beatles-esque riffs, great haromonies, and a sense of humor. Well written tunes.
Man, I have some hope for the future...

You all know I am a priss-but my daughter is totally mad that these 'little kids' are singing about love, romance and proms-when they are too young to even date. The "Naked brothers band" name bugs her a little, the pairing up of kids who don't have hormones yet grosses her out the door:)
She is all of 16! I think she is upset that we have had to teach her little brother that the little girl he has a crush on is NOT his girlfriend. She is convinced he will grow up to be a stalker if we don't set him straight on that now:) He is 7! -

aven't heard them yet. But I heard Doesn't Remind Me of Anything by Audioslave (Chris Cornell) and was blown away by the song and the video. Groups like that and The White Stripes or Raconturs give me hope. I must check out what you mentioned. Avi, have you heard the Audioslave one or seen the video?

What is the appeal of rap (mainly the videos, I'll leave the rest to judge if the music is... music) to middle class suburban children? I'm sorry I almost prefer country to rap. These kids 5 or more years younger than I singing rap lyrics on their iPods makes me want to smack them...
