My weekend...

Well... this weekend went well... I actually got a few tasks accomplished, which is always a good thing.

Saturday - was spent - me hammering out code for an on-going Visual Basic proggie that I have had in progress for a couple of years. Perhaps, it is close to being finished - at least to a useable state - where I can save myself some work - and time.

Sunday - as always - was shopping day. We got some much needed provisions - and a few we didn't 'need' - but wanted.

Later in the day, I decided that we needed to stop the varmit that has taken up residence under our mobile home. A possum. He (or she) has taken to the A/C - heating vents - and I fear that they have torn up part of the ventilation system under the home.

So - I made it my goal to try to block access to any critter - who might decide to go under the mobile home. This meant a trip to the local lumber yard, and getting a couple of 2x4's.

I got them home, and sawed one in half - and nailed it next to the front steps where any and all wandering critters are able to run under the trailer.

I had already pulled and fixed the skirting that had gradually been pushed out of the way - making a large entrance to the darkness underneath the trailer.

The other half of the 2x4 - went to the back steps - where another gap allowed the critters to go under the trailer.

Did it work? I'm still evaluating - but during the night - we didn't hear any bumping - thumping - or any other noises that were usually associated with the possum under the house.

It's kinda funny in a way... the possum had been eating any left-over catfood that he found on the front porch - that the cats had left. The cats? They knew to leave him alone - and were very casual about walking around him - not even being upset at his presence.

The possum - pretty much ignored the cats, too. He was on a 'feeding mission' - and didn't worry about the strange - and smaller - fuzzy critters that seemed to lead a life of luxury outdoors - with the strange bi-peds feeding them.

I feel sorry for the possum... he has been uprooted from his native habitat by the local land developers who are putting up new housing sub-divisions... and so he has to find a new home. I just hope that he packs his bags and moves on - to the next home - I don't want him under mine.

I had a pet possum once. He was tiny. He was in the middle of the road at night chewing on a squished frog.

We named our possum "Critter" and my husband built a cage for him after he jumped out of his box and we couldn't find him for a couple of days. He ate cat food, as we also had a kitten. (They did not play together, either)

I could carry critter around as he got bigger. I put him in one hand and he wrapped his tail around my arm.

Possums do not make it their business to entertain you or show excitement when you return home after work, I found out.

Possums are cute when they are tiny but as they get bigger, they are not pretty things.

Hubbie had to build a bigger cage as he (or she) grew.

Eventually we let him/her go as there were woods around our house. We figured it might stay around the house, but alas, we never saw Critter again.

    Just remembering......

Hmmm... but what do we use to git rid of the coyote that you send? *scratches haid - deep in thot*

I asked the wife if we should send the possum to her ex who lives in Missouri - and eats various varmits... like squirrel... I won't go into details (like she does) on the various bits of the squirrel that he eats.

I don't want to tangle with this possum... he is a big-un... and when he looks at ya... he looks like he means bizness!

I was just talkin with my wife - who stayed home from work today... she said she was hearing a loud commotion at the back porch... we're hopin I haven't trapped the possum - under the house - and he's tryin to git out... he's gonna be one pi**ed possum! - if I have.

be careful if you catch him... they have a butt load of teeth and I've seen what a motivated possum can do to a dog.

I bet you could house break that coyote after he gets to your place. They look like they could make a good watch dog to me.
