Hi. I am wondering if someone might be able to help me with a research project. I am trying to piece together the development of the Witnesses’ ‘generation’ doctrine between 1927 and 1950. I have a copy of the Feb 15th WT of 1927 identifying the generation as the anointed and am wondering when they changed their view that the generation constituted the wicked. I seem to remember a poster (Leolaia?) referring to a book or WT around the 1940s where the switch was made. I have obtained a copy of the WT CDRom. All references to the generation in 1950 are concerning the wicked and without explanation as to why. Therefore, I’m assuming the change from the anointed to the wicked must have taken place between 1927 and 1950. I’d be grateful for any input as I’ve trawled the web to no avail. Thanks! Mandarin

like, penny, I can't help you, other than welcome you to the board and bump this to the top.

But, I must say, isn't it heartwarming to see so many people with anit-watchtower projects going?

    Mandarin:

Check this out. The "New light in the Feb. 2008 WT is RECYCLED:

    330
"as applying to the Jewish people, note the further words of Jesus in answer to the question concerning his presence and the end of the world: "Now learn a parable of the fig tree: When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: so likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors." — Matt. 24:32,33.

Jesus indicated that the true followers of Christ who would compose the remnant on earth at the end of the world would observe these things, and that, if continuing faithful to the end, they would see the kingdom of God established in complete glory: "Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled." (Matt. 24: 34) And then for the further encouragement of the faithful remnant he said: "And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh." — Luke 21:28."

That info is from the book "Life" by JF Rutherford, 1929, Page 330.

    I hope this helps!

Thanks for the welcome! I appreciate your input and will keep looking, and welcome any further insight. I hadn’t come across Rutherford’s viewpoint in ‘Life.’ Thanks for that. Very interesting and will add to my dossier-of-disaster! Mandarin
