The following is from The Watchtower, October 15 1966, page 613, “What Has God’s Kingdom Been Doing Since 1914?”

THE year 1914 is now more than fifty years in the past. Yet it lives in the memory of millions of people today living.

The first world war that began then and the train of events that has followed are part of the personal experience of those millions of living people. The year 1914 and what happened then is, for them, no mere human history that happened before their time. They have lived these things, they recall them, they can still tell about them to people born since.

These millions are part of a generation of mankind that is destined to see even more wonderful things, things that will finally spell out correctly, without any danger of being misread, the real meaning of what has happened and of what began back there in the unforgettable year 1914.

Not with any possibility of failure, the greatest prophet of all time said nineteen centuries ago: “This generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur.”—Matt. 24:34.

Brother, Brother. Just wait on Jehovah. I'm sure that by 2014, or at the latest 2914, the Kingdom will be well under way.

Yes well maybe they should....if you look at the history of how God dealt with his people, then you have the answer, that is not so hard is it!

Not with any possibility of failure

Notice that this was written in 1966. Does anyone remember the big disaster of 1975, when the end did not come as it was supposed to have? Nor did they have any better luck in 1994 when those born in 1914 turn 80.

Of course, they changed the definition of the generation not once, but twice, since then. The first change meant that anyone that shared those characteristics, which could be passed down generations, was part of that generation. Now, it means simply the anointed (and, since May 1, 2007, they did away with the 1935 cutoff so that anyone born much later can become of this grouw). They now can get away with this, since as long as the organization exists, there are going to be some of the "anointed" class to run it. People born today, and people that are born 100 years from today, can be of that anointed class now. Obviously, they can be part of the "generation".

Just watch the prophecy fail. Again. They have been harping on Armageddon coming within a few months all during late 2006 and 2007, even priding themselves that the False Religion crapt wouls start the Great Tribulation. And we all know how successful that was. Soon, they are going to hype 2014, and then 2034--and fail again. And yet, they have "no possibility of failure".

Perhaps if enough of the flock raised the question, they would print another version of that article , 41 years later !!
