The US government is already in the drug business. Profits from alcohol and drug taxes is plentiful. What's one more item? Might take the crime out of it. Personally I would like the crime removed, but fortunately I am drug free, so I really don't care if it was legalized.

Hahaha. They were probably heavy handed, anyway, when they took the stuff.

They can't legalise it. They need the "cash cow" to keep cops and prosecutors and jail employees working, etc. Imagine how many lay-offs would occur if they legalised pot. Fewer DEA's, fewer prosecutors and prospecutors secretaries and public defenders and on and on and on.

It's like the illegal immigration thing. They need some things to remain "illegal" in order to benefit our economy.

Just imagine the savings from cutbacks in law enforcement and incarceration combined with the tax revenues received from the sale of pot. Hell, I bet nearly every city in the union will have massive budget surpluses for years to come.

Yah but, what about all those unemployed cops and jail guards prowling the streets, looking for action. They would be looking for employment in security services. Maybe rates for personal protection would go down, and more americans would be able to afford their own, personal security guard. Heh, i can just see elsewhere w his, guarding his car from nasties and careless people ;)

Was the pot in question clay or ceramic?

Why don't they just pay for it out of the coffee fund?

It can't be more than a few bucks.
