the MAFIA gave money to ophanages and churches too. seems that any organization that collects money for airline tickets to never never land claiming it to be a real place is practicing criminal fraud, no?

Religion commits crimes but is not crime. Society defines what is and isn't crime. Religion is too popular to be defined as such.
Because of man's nature, religion will always be with us, and will always be there to sell people some brand of hope.

I agree with your post that religion is too popular to be defined as such. But, in addition to selling people some brand of hope, there will always be those tempted by the desire to be worshipped and looked up to by other people.
This is probably the most tragic thing of all.
